Winslow, Hubbard - The Appropriate Sphere of Woman. A Discourse Delivered in the Bowdoin Street Church, July 9, 1837

 1536660105,
Boston, Weeks, Jordan and Co, 1837. Pamphlet. Pamphlet, lacking any wraps issued. Perhaps disbound from a larger work. 16 pp. A piece reinforcing gender stereotypes, being a reactionary attack on women participating in the abolitionist movement, as well as those seeking to gain equal rights for women. Hubbard asserts that these women were responsible for "the reign of wild anarchy and shameless vice," among other inanities. Hubbard Winslow was an American minister, and served as principal of the Mount Vernon School for Young Ladies, beginning in 1844. GOOD condition. General toning, minor soiling and very light scattered foxing. Moderate creasing/wrinkling to the extremities. Good .
