London, Thomas Nelson and sons. 1885, First edition, second printing. Hardcover, 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Book, 350 pages, with forty illustrations inlcuding frontiepiece. Spine is split on one side, top and bottom of spine chipped, covers a little soiled, small piece of cloth missing from rear cover. The first English edition was printed in 1874. Raynal was a French sailor best known for his involvement in the Grafton shipwreck at the Auckland Islands. He wrote a popular account of the voyage, Les Naufragés, ou Vingt mois sur un récif des îles Auckland which was translated into English as Wrecked on a Reef. Good.
