- Miller's Royal Tourist Handbook to the Highland and Islands

James W.Miller, 1882. Hardcover. This Guide was published in paperback in individual parts, whilst they are all in this volume. 33 Routes are indexed extending from Glasgow and Edinburgh to Inverness and the Outer Isles. The bulk of the book covers the immediate area within a days reach of Oban. Plates of Oban, Goatfell in Arran, Inverary, Glencoe, Ben Nevis, Staffa, Iona etc. p.375-380 offer a detailed summsry of angling in Mull and the area. Four folding maps and another of Cuilin Mountains. Many sepia plates - but two later plates missing as is common - I have never seen them. Large folding map in a rear pocket which has been repaired with archival tape. Otherwise all complete and clean with bright gilt but a snag on the top of the rear cover as seen. But nevertheless VG. Minimal foxing. Neat owners name stamp above list of illustrations. VG. 386p + period adverts to front and rear. Dated 1882 on adverts - the earliest edition I have seen is 1877. See scans and email for many more. . Very Good
