Lachecki, Bartholomew - The War Years 1939-1946

Apparently privately published narrative of the prolonged escape of a young Polish couple Lachecki and his wife to be - Louise - who decided to leave Krakow Poland at the time of the German occupation in 1939. They ended up after a train journey lasting weeks interned by the Russians in Siberia in a logging camp necessary for the Russiam war effort to fuel a power station which drove local gold miniong operations. After Poilsh prisoners were pardoned they travelled through Southerrn Rusia, Iraq and Egypt here joining the British Forces during the invasion of Italy. In 1946 they ended in Newcastle upon Tyne where they lived and worked on. The narrative is dated 1986 though the book was published by Peter Lachecki (son?) in 2010.
