Angelica Balabanoff fu protagonista di rilievo delle lotte socialiste non solo in Italia: nella direzione del Partito socialista nel primo decennio del 900, condirettrice dell'Avanti! (con Mussolini), pacifista, segretaria della Terza Internazionale comunista, fino alla repressione di Kronstad, quando lasciò l'Urss. Rientrò in Italia dopo la seconda guerra mondiale.
