Forty-three documents, 1799 - 1864; manuscripts and printed papers, partially filled in manuscript; single-leaf and multi-page, various sizes and formats; condition varies - from near fine, with minor wear, to good - with occasional closed cuts to edges and and spotting. John Law Sr. (1743 - 1811) was a prominent Irish-American land speculator and businessman in New York and Salem. He was also a financier and co-owner of the Law & Todd dry-goods business. The current collection, spanning 65 years and several generations of the Law family, included payment receipts, mortgage documents, bonds, and various other business notes of John Law Sr. John Law Jr. and William Law; several Law & Todd papers; and personal correspondence of Elizabeth Law.
