Gabor, E. (Gabor, Andor) - Krasnaia Shapochka. Stsena Iz Zhizni Vengerskogo Kontsentratsionnogo Lageria Dlia Polit-Zakliuchennykh V Zalaegersege (Little Red Riding Hood. A Scene from Life in the Hungarian Concentration Camp for Political Prisoners in Zalaegerszeg)

Moskva (Moscow), Izdnie TSK MOPR SSSR, 1927. First Russian Edition, 1 of 15 000 copies; 7 x 5; pp. 3-27, [5]; illustrated, beige wraps; small, previous owner's signature to title page; slight discoloration to upper margin of front wrap verso; a bit of age-toning and wear along edges; in very good condition. A gritty, cynical, noir reworking of the beloved fairy tale, it was written by Hungarian poet and journalist Andor Gabor, pseudonym for Andor Greiner (1884 - 1953). He began his career writing for the Jewish press and was known for his violent narratives against Hungarian antisemitism. He joined the Communist Party in 1919 and was in close contact with Bela Kun. After the fall of Kun's Regime, Gabor was arrested, imprisoned, and consequently exiled - first going to Vienna, from which he would be expelled in 1925, then Paris, from which he would also be deported, then Berlin, and then Moscow. He would join the German Association of Proletarians and later work for various satirical periodicals and write numerous books. Not in OCLC, not in the trade (as of January 2023). Very good .
