- The Effects of FlatteryS. l. s. n. 1850. Hand-colored collage, n. d. (1850s); single sheet with several die-cuts pasted on; a few faint spots to margins and a light offset to verso; light wear to edges and corners; in very good condition. A humorous piece of victorian art, from an unknown publication, but most probably British, it consisted of two compositions - showing the positive effects of flattery. The first one featured an old beggar lady managing to wrangle money out of a gentleman; the second one pictured two gentlemen - a playwright and his friend, the latter managing to secure tickets for himself and his family to the newest comedy.
