B. & K. - An Archive of Printer’S SamplesS. l. (San Francisco [?]), B. & K. 1920. First Edition. Eighty two samples, n. d. (ca1920); various sizes; cream, blue, pink, and white card stock sheets, some folded to resemble greeting cards; some with deckled edges; embossed, illustrated, gilded, and plain; all with abraded spots to verso (previously pasted in a sample book [?]), else minor wear, with occasional spotting and small creases; condition varies from very good to near fine and better. A massive archive of printing samples, from an elusive printer, possibly from the San Francisco Bay Area (provenance – previous owner), the cards presented a beautiful and quite comprehensive array of options, including menus, programs, advertising, etc. Each card included a sample number and types of inset and envelop to go with it. It also contained a unique word – “NARCOTIC,” OBLIVIOUSLY,” “NAPPY,“ and so on, and one could order the desired design by simply telegraphing that particular word to the company. Very good .
