London, Bradshaw. 1848. Book, Bradshaw's Railway Companion containing the times of departure fares etc. of the railways in England published by Bradshaw London January 1848. Coded 1st Mo.1848 In cloth-covered boards size 12 by 7.5 cm. with a gold label with the title to the front. 150 pages. Contains the timetables of the major railway companies and other train information 14 pages of maps some hand-coloured. With five double-page city plans (Bristol Birmingham Oxford Liverpool and Manchester) and a folding map of London a folding map of the railways of England and Wales and a folding chart of the gradients of the principal lines. The front board has a label above the title indicating that this copy was Office File No. 51". The front endpaper has a later label possibly early 20th century stating that this was the property of the Secretary of the Railway Exhibition Committee and it is signed in ink by Hilda Bradshaw a descendant of George Bradshaw. This exhibition seems to have been held to mark the centenary of the Liverpool to Manchester railway in 1930. Good to VG condition. Images available.".
