A DP (displaced persons) camp publication of what is considered the best work of Ukrainian poet Stepan Rudanskii (1833-1873). He studied theology, but dropped out in favor of writing and was practically disowned by his father for refusing to write in Russian and instead choosing to create his works exclusively in his native Ukrainian. He was also heavily leaned on by the Tsarist' Censorship for denouncing serfdom and the corruption of government officials. His current cycle of humorous poetical pieces showcased his satirical and anti-religious style. Ill.: 0. 2.
