An advertisement for Hanford's Balsam of Myrrh in the form of an abc book with each page featuring two letters, an illustration, and short rhymes touting the magical properties of the product, for example: "W is for Wound or Open Sore, That you have tried to heal before; Seek Hanford's Balsam where for sale, Then use after others fail." Hanford's Balsam was introduced in 1846 as a cure-all for external injuries on horses, livestock, and humans. Ill.: 0. 2.
