Illustrated with historical extracts related to its Trade Manufacture Natural Produce etc. by Emanuel Bowen published by Bowen London 1764. On folding linen in 16 sections size 72 by 53 cm. Hand-coloured. With two decorative cartouches one containing the title the other the dedication to the Duke of Grafton. A map that manages to combine a wealth of local detail with decoration. A key provides information on mills churches schools abbeys rectories and vicarages market days distances between towns etc. Various panels of text around the margins of the map give information of the main towns commerce agriculture etc. Complete with original slipcase. Some wear to the reverse of the folds so that occasionally a glimpse of light shows through and two small folds have been strengthened with archival standard linen tape. With these qualifications Good condition in Good slipcase. Images available.
