London, Knight. 1840. Book, Map of Paris. Published by Knight for the SDUK London circa 1840. Drawn by Clark and engraved by Shury. On folding linen in fifteen sections size 56 by 41 cm. Scale four inches to the mile. A detailed map with information on the quartiers of the city a key to the main French terms used for the various features and a series of 21 small vignettes of major buildings and landmarks along the bottom of the map . Hand-coloured. Signature in ink above top right corner of the map probably that of the original owner. Several of the folds have been strengthened to the reverse with archival quality clear tape and there is also some staining and foxing to the reverse. No tears or loss. Good condition with these reservations. Folds into (later) slipcase. Images available.
