London, RAF. 1944. Book, An RAF escape map on silk produced in 1944 covering Sumatra Java and part of Bornea with maps on both sides. Size 98 by 63 cm. scale 1:1000000. Coded 44/G and 44/H. A detailed key gives information on roads railways paths ruins lights etc. and includes an explanation of local words used in the map. Side 1 (44/G) shows the south of Sumatra and the extreme north-west of Java. Side 2 (44/H) includes south-west Borneo Java east and west plus the extreme south of Sumatra. Full colour. Includes an inset map of the whole region on a larger scale.Folds to the size of a pocket handkerchief. Good to Vg condition. Images available.
