London, Lewis. 1833. Book, The Topographical Dictionary of England Atlas by S Lewis published by Lewis London 1833. In stiff cloth-covered boards size 34 by 26 cm. With 44 maps including a large folding map of England a large folding map of London on a scale of three inches to the mile maps of Guernsey Jersey the Isle of Man and maps of the counties of England. Maps drawn by Creighton. Several maps show the earliest railways: Lewis describes it thus as: including a map of England Shewing the Principal Towns Roads Railways and Canals; and a Plan of London and its environs". Gold stamped title to spine. There is no title page: this was usual for this edition as the title appeared at the front of the first volume of text that was published at the same time as the atlas. Title in a gold-stamped label to spine which appears to be made of treated cloth or thin leather with a patch near the head. Some wear to spine but binding sound. Good to VG condition with minor foxing outside the borders of some of the county maps. Images available.".
