"The Assassination at Wolf's Lair" was originally published in Polish as '20 Lipca.' The book described the assassination attempt on Hitler's life on July 20, 1944. The plot had been the culmination point of series of actions by German Resistance groups to overthrow the Nazi Government. Ultimately, the attempt failed, resulting in 4980 people being executed by the Gestapo and the annihilation of the organized resistant movement for the remainder of WWII. Ill.: 0. 2.
