Gilbert, Edwin - Damion's Daughter [Signed/Inscribed Association Copy]

Garden City: Doubleday and Company, Inc. 1949. Hardcover. First edition; 5 1/2" x 8 1/4"; pp. [10], 1-308, [2]; original mustard boards; pictorial DJ; fine with very minor wear to head and tail of spine. Jacket bright and clean with a few chips to head of spine; very good. Signed and inscribed by author to Eleanor Rattigan-Rubin. She worked at Doubleday & Company in the early 40s, where she apparently met Ediwn Gilbert judging by his inscription: "..It is inconceivable to think of doing a third novel without you about the publisher's premises." Though, she was most widely known for her long career as a CIA agent and her marriage to Jerome William Robin - Chief of the San Francisco office of the CIA in the 70s. Edwin Gilbert himself was a screenplay writer in Holywood in the early 40s before moving to New York and becoming a novelist. He wrote the screenplays for 'All Through the Night,' starring Humphrey Bogart and 'Larceny, Inc.' with Anthony Quinn and Jackie Gleason. The current book is a fascinating tale of a young girl's drama in New York's theatrical world. Ill.: 0. Fine 1.
