Akiyama Buemon 1894 Woodcut triptych 33x70cm, the three sheets joined and laid down. A bit marked and grubby. ¶ This is the first time, as far as I know, that war artists and journalists became stars of senso-e: war prints. I can't read the names of the two artists portrayed here but of course the best war artists never went near a war. I found no suggestion that Toshikata ever left his studio.
