School Novel, 450 g; 256 pages, with colour frontispiece, in original decorated cloth, with the remains of the colour illustrated dustjacket. This is the 2nd of the Dimsie novels, first published in 1921. The top edge has an odd yellow stain effecting the 1st 32 pages, and the last 49 pages for approximately half of the depth of the top edge, and there is foxing to the front edge of the textblock, and likes of bumping into the bottom edges of the boards, with moisture staining to the rear panel, the spine, and the bottom part of the front panel. Ownership inscription on front paste down. The dustjacket shows some colour transfer, some moisture damage, and rubbing and chipping at each of the corners of the front and rear panel and top and bottom of the spine. Nancy to the Rescue London, Humphrey Milford. 1937. Hard Cover with dust jacket, 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. This is a 1930s edition published by Humphrey Milford. Upper part of the dustwrapper is missing (a semi-circular bit about 2'' at the widest part) but the illustration is repeated on the front board showing a girl in red raincoat and beret playing a flute under a streetlamp. Boards are yellow card with a yellow cloth spine strip. No publication date given but there is some writing inside front board to the effect that the original owner received the book as a prize in October 1937. Generally a very good copy (other than the damage to the dustwrapper) of this book which seems to be a cheaper reprint in the publisher's ''Boy's & Girl's Library'' series. 191pp, 4 b&w drawings..
