Unpaginated - 8 pages printed one side each with a hand-colored illustration of a bird (heron, golden eagle, domestic cock, eagle owl, bittern, pheasant, crane) accompanied by a sentence or 2 of text. No date - ca early 19th century. Yellow paper wraps later sewn; rear cover reads "The Good Child's Pretty Museum of Birds". Covers soiled, creased, chipped, one corner (lower rt ft) missing. Pages edge worn, not critically affecting text, except one closed tear across the Crane. Aged but most characterful and appealing.

Exemplaire - sous agréable reliure du temps - agrémenté de planches sous serpente hors-texte ainsi que de nombreuses figures. ''Nous avons ici voulu compléter Buffon. Il avait donné l'histoire des mammifères et des oiseaux, nous avons ajouté celle des poissons et des insectes.'' Angles élimés. Très légères marques d'usage affectant par ailleurs la reliure. Quelques rares feuillets pourvus de rousseurs. Du reste, très belle condition.

Notre exemplaire, ainsi qu'il l'est stipulé à la justification du tirage, est bien complet du dessin original signé de Tavy Notton, de ses deux suites sur Auvergne et Rives blanc, du tirage sur soie de 3 planches simples. En revanche, le cuivre et le tirage sur soie de 3 planches doubles font défaut à notre ouvrage. Les illustrations de Tavy Notton se composent ainsi : 1 frontispice en noir, 20 hors-texte en noir dont 6 à double page.
