WHO IS DAVID BRASS RARE BOOKS?

President: David Brass

David is an internationally renowned antiquarian bookseller who has been dealing in rare and collectable books and original artwork for the past thirty-seven years. He was the owner of E. Joseph Booksellers in London from 1973-1993 and then, at Heritage Book Shop, Inc. in Los Angeles, the Director of Acquisitions from 1993-1997, and the Vice President from 1997-2004.

He was President of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association in England from 1990-1992, a member of the British Antique Dealers Association, and President of the Southern California Chapter of the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America from 2001-2003. Over the years, David has built many great investment-quality collections of rare books and original artwork for collectors worldwide.

Vice President: Caroline Brass

In charge of our day to day operation, Caroline brings much energy and enthusiasm to the table. Caroline also worked at Heritage Book Shop, Inc. for many years. An avid collector in her own right of Victorian scent bottles, she has the experience necessary to make this business thrive.

Technologist: Fernando Alves

Fernando has been using and programming computers since the late '70s. He is also a consummate gadgeteer -- if you don't even know what something is, rest assured that Fernando will -- he will probably even have one. His skills help us keep pace with all the technology we need to run this business on a daily basis. Oh, he has also designed and implemented this web site...

Cataloguer: Nancy Ruppert

A librarian by trade, Nancy has been cataloguing rare books for over twenty-seven years. Having worked with David for many years, including the eleven years David spent at Heritage Book Shop, Inc., she now brings her extensive knowledge to this venture. Make sure to read her fantastic descriptions -- you might just learn a thing or two.

Stephen J. Gertz

Beginning as a private rare book dealer in the the mid-1980s, Steve later established his presence as manager of William Dailey Rare Books. Prior to entering the trade, he wore many hats in the TV/film/video industry: executive story editor, show co-developer, senior story editor, creative consultant, advertising copywriter, and marketing division manager. And he’s a published writer, too!
