Scarce edition of 1827 of this important historical work by the patriot and historian Carlo Botta (1766-1837) born in San Giorgio Canavese (Torino). Considered a revolutionary by the Piedmont government was imprisoned in 1794 and released in 1795, when emigrated in France. In the work he carefully describes the history of the Independence of United States, analyzing battles and happenings. In the first volume he describes usages and customs of the inhabitants of the first american colonies, then continues the historical narration with the speech of George Washington and his retiree. Published for the first time in 1809 the work was a real editorial unsuccess, now the work is considered the first wide work on this issue. The intentions of Botta were to show the independence of United States as an example of a good conduction of a revolution. In the first volume the list of books he used to write the work. At the end of the fourth volume two folded maps engraved by Giuseppe Pezzÿ representing the southern and northern provinces of united States. The work is complete of all pages. Rara edizione del 1827 di questa importante opera storica del patriota e storico Carlo Botta (1766-1837) nato a San Giorgio Canavese (Torino).<BR>Considerato un sovversivo da parte del governo piemontese fu imprigionato nel 1794 e rilasciato nel 1795, emigr? in Francia. Nell'opera egli descrive dettagliatamente la storia dell'indipendenza degli Stati Uniti, analizzando le battaglie e gli episodi accaduti. Nel primo volume egli descrive i costumi e le usanze delle prime colonie Americane, poi prosegue la narrazione storica sino a chiudere con il discorso di George Washington ed il suo ritiro. Pubblicato per la prima volta nel 1809, lo scritto fu un vero e proprio insuccesso editoriale, ora considerata la prima vasta opera storica sull'argomento. Le intenzioni del Botta erano quelle di mostrare l'indipendenza degli Stati Uniti come esempio di buona conduzione di una rivoluzione.
